We’re so incredibly grateful that God brought us here! In the middle of a kindergarten basketball game, I googled, “dance studios near me.” Tatianna was not interested in baseball or basketball and much preferred dancing around her coaches to playing with her team. So, we decided to give dance a try. There were several studios near us, but the one that caught our eye was “dancin’ with GiGi: a Christian dance studio that praises God in the dance.” What started as a great place to connect, turned into something so much greater!At the first parent visit, GiGi explained that the group prays together at the start of each class. At the recital that spring, several girls shared how dance was there safe place, where they could share the hard things knowing they were covered in prayer.Last year, I cried from the start of the recital to the end. Quite frankly, so much was going on personally and everything felt weighty, but blessed. This year, I watched in awe. Jana Van Wetzinga had done it! Her first full year running A Time to Dance - Eldridge, formerly Dancin’ with GiGi, and what I’d fallen in love with 4 years ago was painted all over the stage. I watched as these girls praised God in the dance. I listened as girls shared that dance was more than just routines, it was family, it was faith, it was safety and security and confidence building. Recital week is a lot…(and nothing compared to what other companies do) but juggling 5 kids in sports/activities, including 5 nights of dance classes, rehearsals and recitals is a lot. But, to witness these girls and young ladies chase after Jesus and dance for Him, is beautiful! From the first dress rehearsal, capturing the little girls watching eagerly from the steps…to the final bows, this has been one of the best decisions we ever made! Thank you doesn’t seem enough for pouring into our daughters’ lives. Shey Boetger, thank you for loving our girls relentlessly! Jana, sincerely, thank you for fanning their flames of faith and a greater belief in their abilities!
